A Farewell Supper Of Sorts

so friday night we had supper with our friend miss meliss, who used to be my next-door neighbor when i had my own house in midtown. melissa is a brilliant, and i do mean brilliant, graphic designer. she did our wedding invitations, which if i ever figure it out, will post up here 'cause they turned out incredible.

anyway, we picked up dinner (chicken fried chicken, homemade mashed potatoes, roll and butter, and green beans with bacon) from lew's grill & bar and it was quite delish. but dinner in my mind was tinged with great sadness as melissa is moving away--first to portland to live with audrey (the channeler) and then to new york. i've never seen more excited about an internship than anything else in the eight years i've known her. she's really juiced about taking her life in a completely different direction. and while i'm sincerely happy and want the best for her, i'm sad that she's moving away.

yes, there is email, telephone, the u.s. mail, and plane tickets. but it's not the same. it never is.
