I've Seen A Lot Of These Lately

not sure why or if it's mating season again, but i'm seeing cardinals almost everywhere i go. the male is such an incredible color--it almost takes your breath away. it's really cool to see them in an evergreen tree--it's practically reminiscent of a freaking holiday card, but it's such a contrast, it's like dessert for the eyes.

yesterday i had the luck to be in the pool while a female cardinal hung out at a nearby tree and birdbath. her orange beak reminded me of a crayola cranyon color and she was quite the inquisitive girl--she was just as curious about me as i was about her.

in the past i would have thought all these bird sightings were some kind of sign. maybe that things were going to change. but i don't believe in that stuff any more. i happen to live and work in heavily bird populated areas, and thankfully a lot of those are cardinals.
